Bill Gates diam-diam mengutak-atik sistem operasi dan teknologi Macintosh dan meluncurkan apa yang kita kenal sekarang sebagai Windows, padahal saat itu Macintosh belum karena kelihaiannya Bill Gates dapat mengelabui Apple. Dari situlah Microsoft bekembang pesat dan jutru menjadi saingan berat bagi Apple. Sementara di pihak Apple sendiri justru terjadi persaingan antara Macintosh Developers dan Apple II Developers, namun Steve Jobs malah menganggap hal ini sebagai sesuatu yang hebat dan dia menganggap macintosh adalah yang terbaik diantara pendahulunya yaitu Lisa dan Apple II.
